Ram\u00f3n J. Sender en el a\u00f1o del 120 aniversario de su nacimiento. Verano de 1937, ha pasado un a\u00f1o desde la muerte de Paco el del Molino y Mos\u00e9n Mill\u00e1n, el cura que lo bautiz\u00f3, lo cas\u00f3 y le dio la extremaunci\u00f3n, hoy celebra una misa de r\u00e9quiem por el alma del muchacho. Queda poco m\u00e1s de una hora para el comienzo de la misa y el viejo cura junto a su sacrist\u00e1n esperan la llegada de familiares y amigos. En un m\u00e1gico viaje por la conciencia del cura, Pepe, el sacrist\u00e1n, ejercer\u00e1 como un antiguo juglar provocando y reviviendo mucho m\u00e1s que la vida de Paco. Muchos de los que tejieron la historia de sus vidas estar\u00e1n presentes; en los recuerdos, en los dolorosos olvidos, en las conversaciones, en los reproches, en los remordimientos. Pasado y presente serpentean por el cuerpo y la mente de nuestros personajes, lo hacen en una Espa\u00f1a no tan lejana, en una tierra \u201ccincelada a golpe de bombo y martillo\u201d.
